Gretchen's Cookbook includes recipes from cooking traditions all over the world. It all started out with my mom's "Magic Book" where she kept all the recipes she'd collected. I'm delighted to be able to share my kitchen with you.
A note on units: I am an American cook, using American tools. We've written the recipes using American units, like cups and Tablespoons. If you need metric units (Hello, U.K.! G'day, Australia!), use the automated metric conversion feature.
As you browse our recipes, you'll see lots of recipes with pictures. (I try to take a few every week!) If you see a recipe with a photo, we made it, we ate it. What you see is what we got. We could spruce it up with a little varnish here and a spritz of glycerin there. But we don't. Okay, we do our best to plate it up nicely, but if you like the looks of it, I bet you can make a batch just like it. No heroics necessary.
So welcome, and make yourself at home.
