Yukkai Jang Kuk (Korean Hot Chili Beef & Onion Soup


Ingredients:
1 lb braising beef 8 c water 1 1/2 Tbsp chili pdr 2 Tbsp sesame oil 12 grn onions 2 tsp crushed garlic 1 Tbsp white sesame seeds, toasted & grd 1 tsp sugar 1/2 tsp white pepper 1 1/2 Tbsp dark soy sauce
Directions:
Cut beef into cubes, place in saucepan with the water. Bring to boil, reduce heat, simmer 1 1/2-2 hrs. Mix chili pdr with sesame oil. Trim, shred green onions. Heat chili pdr, sesame oil, fry grn onions with garlic 2 min. Add sesame seeds, sugar, pepper, soy sauce, fry 2 - 3 min over med ht. Lift out meat, drain well, toss in pan for a few min. Return contents of pan to stock, bring to boil, simmering until soup well flavored.
