Angel Gingerbread
American Dessert - Cake Recipe
1 heaping Tbsp. shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg
pinch salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ginger
1 rounded cup flour
1/2 cup boiling water
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Dissolve baking soda in molasses, and add to shortening. Beat egg, and add salt and spices; add to shortening mixture.
Stir in flour, then boiling water. Batter will be thin, but that makes the cake light and moist. Pour the batter into a greased 8 by 8-inch pan, and bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes or until cake tests done.
