2 bars (4 oz ea) sweet dark chocolate
1 1/8 c granulated sugar
1/2 lb butter
1/4 tsp salt
Combine butter, sugar, salt in heavy skillet, cook over medium-high heat. Stir constantly until the color is deep amber, candy at hard-crack stage (300°), approximately 15 minutes.
Pour onto a cookie sheet lined with aluminum foil. In double boiler over medium heat, melt half the chocolate. When the candy has cooled, spread one side with melted chocolate. Press chopped nuts into coating.
Melt remaining chocolate, turn over, repeat coating. After the second side has set, break into pieces.
A note on chocolate
You only get one chance to melt chocolate, so be sure you're ready to use it before it's melted. (You can't re-melt it.)
