1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
pinch salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
sugar & cinnamon for sprinkling
Directions:
Editor's Note: This cookie is a little harder than a regular sugar cookie. I like to give a gift of a combination of these cookies and Ginger Cookies. I alternate them in the package.
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Sift together flour, baking powder, cream of tartar and salt. In a stand mixer, cream shortening. Add sugar gradually, beating until fluffy. Add egg. Beat well. Then gradually add the flour mixture and the vanilla.
Roll into small balls. Place about 1 inch apart on a greased cookie sheet. Flatten with the bottom of a glass (I use the palm of my hand). Sprinkle with sugar & cinnamon.
Bake at 350°F for about 10 minutes. Enjoy! -Diana
