4 cups granulated sugar
4 cups water
1/4 cup instant coffee
1 vanilla bean, cut into pieces
1 quart 100 proof vodka
Combine the sugar, water, coffee and vanilla bean pieces in a large pan (Dutch Oven size). Bring all of this to a boil. Depending on how thick you want the Kahlua to turn out, you will need to boil it for a while. Once it is at the thickness you want, set it aside and allow it to cool slightly. Add the vodka. Allow the mixture to cool completely.
Strain through cheesecloth into a large bottle, like a wine jug. You can use it right away. Enjoy!!! -Diana
