Thumbprints


Ingredients:
Cookies: 1/2 cup soft butter or margarine 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed 1.5 cups sifted all-purpose flour 2 Tbsp. milk 1/4 cup semisweet chocolate pieces, chopped Sifted confectioner's sugar Chocolate Filling: 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate pieces 1 Tbsp. shortening 2 Tbsp. Karo light corn syrup 1 Tbsp. water 1 tsp. vanilla extract
Directions:
- Start heating oven to 375 degrees. Mix butter, salt, vanilla, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. -Blend in flour, milk and chopped chocolate pieces. Shape into 1-inch balls; place on ungreased cookie sheets; with thumb, make depression in each. Bake 10 to 12 minutes. Roll in sugar; cool. -Meanwhile, over hot (not boiling) water, melt semisweet chocolate with shortening, stirring. Cool slightly; add corn syrup, water, and vanilla. Heap this filling in centers of cookies. Makes 3 dozen. Enjoy!!! -Diana
