4 qt. crabapples - washed, deblossomed and quartered
4 c. sugar
3 c. unflavoured vodka
Directions:
That's right, crabapples are good for something more than throwing at your enemies when you play cops and robbers. Or making a sticky mess on the driveway. Redeeming quality! It's cocktail time!
Yield: about a litre of flavoured vodka
Time: Takes a couple weeks - start early
Fill a gallon jar with a tight-fitting lid with the prepared crabapples, as SOON as they are prepared. Don't let them get brown!
Add the sugar and the vodka.
Store the jar on its side, turning it once a day for 16 days straight. This will help dissolve the sugar.
After the 16th day, strain to filter out the fruit and bits, then bottle using sterlized bottling technique. Enjoy!!!
