Burmese Dinner recipes

Ingredients: Metric Units
2 lb fresh unpeeled med shrimp
salt
cornstarch
12 oz. bamboo shoots
2 med onions
8 cloves garlic
2" piece fresh ginger
3 Tbsp veg. oil
1 1/2 tsp powdered turmeric
1 1/2 tsp dried chili flakes
1 c fish stock or water
1 1/2 c thick coconut milk
fish sauce
Directions:
Prepare shrimp, rub with salt, cornstarch. Thinly slice onions, garlic, shred ginger. Fry onions, garlic, ginger 4 min. until softened. Add turmeric, chili flakes, continue to fry until onions well colored. Add 2 Tbsp cold water, simmer until liquid evap. Add stock, boil. Simmer 2-3 min. Add shrimp, bamboo, bring almost to boil. Cook gently 5 min. Add coconut milk, simmer 2 min. Do not allow to boil. Fish sauce to taste, serve over rice.
