Butter Pecan Turtle Cookies


Ingredients:
2 c flour 1 c brown sugar 1/2 c butter, softened Caramel layer: 2/3 c butter 1/2 c brown sugar Topping: 1 c pecan halves 1 c chocolate chips
Directions:
These cookie bars are often a hit at the bake sale. Base layer: Combine flour, sugar, butter. Pat firmly into ungreased 9x13 baking pan. Sprinkle pecans over unbaked crust. Caramel layer: Combine butter, sugar. Cook, stirring constantly, until entire surface of mixture begins to boil. Boil 30 seconds - 1 minute, stirring constantly. Pour evenly over crust. Bake crust + caramel layer at 350ºF for 18 - 22 minutes or until caramel layer is bubbly and crust is light golden brown. Topping: As bars cool, top with chips, swirled slightly for marbled effect. Do not spread. Scatter pecan halves on top. Makes 3 - 4 doz. bars.
