1 shot rum (preferably amber)
1-2 tsp brown sugar
1/2 Tbsp butter (a pat)
1 slice lemon
scant cup boiling water
Directions:
To a mug, add rum, brown sugar, butter. Fill with boiling water. Stir to melt butter and combine ingredients. Squeeze lemon slice, stir.

Now, I've heard it said that "hot buttered rum" is one of those things that sounds really good but then you try it... Like sugarplums - treat technology has made incredible strides since the Victorian era. I myself was skeptical. But if you've turned down your thermostat in the wake of eye-popping heating costs (and who hasn't?) and the tip of your nose just won't get warm? A mug of this will toast you right down to your toes.
(And if it's not your "cup of tea," just add a little more sugar.)
