1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup quick or old fashioned oats, uncooked
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 cup (1 stick ) butter
6 cups peeled, sliced apples (about 8 medium)
Directions:
A classic American dessert, this traditional recipe comes from a pamphlet called "American Dairy Association Farm Kitchen Favorites."
Yield: 6 servings
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Combine sugar, oats, flour and cinnamon. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly.
Arrange half the apple slices in buttered 8-inch square baking pan. Sprinkle half the sugar mixture over the apples. Top with remaining apples and sugar mixture.
Bake at 350° for 30 to 40 min. or until apples are tender. Serve warm with whipped cream or milk.
