Pita Bread

Middle Eastern Bread recipes

Ingredients:
1 Tbsp yeast 2 1/2 c flour 1 c milk 1 1/2 Tbsp butter 1 1/2 Tbsp sugar 1 tsp salt wheat germ/bran flakes
Directions:
Combine yeast, 1 c flour. Heat milk, butter, sugar, salt. Add to flour, beat 3 min. Stir in enough flour to make stiff. Knead until smooth. Cover, let rise in greased bowl 45 min. Punch, cover rest 10 min. Form 1 1/2" balls. Place on ungreased baking sheets, roll into 4" circles. Bake 7-9 min @ 400° until puffed, brown. Cool on cloth covered surface. Dough may be rolled in wheat germ or bran flakes before rolling out.
