1/2 c. (119 ml) (one stick, 1/4 lb. (0.1 kg)) margarine, softened
1/2 c. (119 ml) packed brown sugar
1/4 c. (59 ml) white sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. (5 ml) vanilla extract
1 c. (0.2 L) all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. (2.5 ml) baking powder
1/2 tsp. (2.5 ml) baking soda
2 1/2 cups (0.6 L) Cheerios (or your favorite O-cereal)
1 c. (0.2 L) raisins
2/3 c. (158 ml) powdered sugar
3-4 tsp. (20 ml) milk
Directions:
A healthy sweet treat for the next bake sale.
Yield: 24 squares
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 13 x 9 x 2 inch rectangular baking pan, or spray with nonstick.
In a large bowl, beat margarine, brown sugar and sugar. Add egg and vanilla; beat well.
In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder and baking soda. Add to margarine mix; mix well.
Crush cereal to make 1 1/2 c. (0.4 L) crumbs.
Add cereal and raisins to batter and stir until thoroughly combined. Spread evenly in bottom of prepared pan.
Bake at 350°F for 15 to 20 min. or until toothpick tests clean. Cool.
Combine the powdered sugar and the milk; stir until smooth. Drizzle over top. Cut into squares. Makes 24 squares.
