Ingredients:
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour 1/4 tsp. salt 4 tsp. baking powder 1/4 c. sugar 2 Tbsp. butter 2 eggs (used separately) 1 c. milk 1 c. chocolate chunks
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400°F. In a medium bowl, combine flour, salt and baking powder. Cut butter in with a pastry blender or a fork. Stir in chocolate chunks. Add 1 egg and milk and beat to a somewhat sticky dough. Flour your hands so the dough won't stick so much. Flour a pastry cloth or a space on your counter. Turn the dough out and pat it out to about 1/2 in. (1cm) thick. Using a sharp knife, cut the dough into triangles. (The larger the triangles, the larger the scones. This recipe makes 12-18 moderately sized scones - not the monster huge ones that you see at the Starbuck's.) Spray a baking tray with nonstick spray. Place the triangles on the tray, giving about 1/2-1 inch (1-2cm) space in between. In a small bowl, beat 1 egg with a little bit of water. Brush onto the top of the triangles. Bake at 400°F for 15 minutes, until tops start to turn golden brown.
