Ingredients:
2 c. milk 1/2 c. water 5-6 c. flour 2 pkg. yeast (2 Tbsp. yeast) 1 Tbsp. sugar 2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. baking soda cornmeal to dust pans
Directions:
Like English muffins by the slice. Toasts up beautifully. Hello, breakfast. Rasher of bacon anyone? Combine milk and water in a small saucepan. Heat over low heat until very warm, about 120°F - roasty toasty bathwater. Place 4 c. flour, yeast, sugar, salt, and baking soda in the bowl. Gradually add the warm milk/water. Mix, adding additional flour 1/2 c. at a time. Dough will be sticky. Grease two 9x5x3 loaf pans and dust the inside with cornmeal. Tear the dough in half and place in prepared loaf pans. Let rise 45 min. in a warm place free from draft (in the oven with the light on but not the heat). Bake at 400°F for 25 min. Remove from pans immediately and allow to cool completely on racks.
