Tomato Basil Sauce More Recipes Like This


Ingredients: Metric Units
3/4 c. chopped onion
2 cloves crushed garlic
6 c. chopped tomatoes
3 Tbsp. oil
3/4 c. red wine
1/3 c. snipped parsley
1/3 c. snipped basil
1 1/2 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 c. sliced zucchini
1 c. sliced mushrooms
1/2 c. pitted ripe olives
Directions:
A simple red sauce for pasta.
Yield: 4 servings
Cook onion and garlic in oil over medium heat. Stir in tomatoes, wine, parsley, basil, sugar, salt. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat, simmer uncovered, stirring frequently until almost thickened, about 1 hour. Add zucchini and mushrooms. Cook until thickened, about 15 more minutes. Stir in olives, heat through. Serve over pasta.
