Grant Family Recipe
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs. Beat until light and fluffy. Add milk, vanilla.
Sift together dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, salt). Add flour mixture to creamed ingredients. Wrap tightly so the dough does not dry out and chill well. (If you're in a time crunch...or if the dough won't play nice with the rolling pin...try rolling the dough in balls, roll in sugar (or colored sugar for fancy) and then press with the bottom of a glass or a cookie stamp.)
Roll out to 1/4" (0.63 cm) thick. Cut out, placing 2" (5 cm) apart on lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake 10 minutes at 375°F.
For glittery sugar crust, remove from oven after 8 minutes, sprinkle with sugar, and return to oven for 2 minutes.
