Basic Bread Recipes
Ingredients: Metric Units
2 1/4 c flour
1 tsp salt
1 Tbsp baking powder
2 tsp sugar
1 c heavy cream or milk
6 Tbsp butter, melted
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425°F.

Sift together flour, salt, baking powder and sugar into a large bowl. Add melted butter. Stir.

Add a little of the cream, stir to combine. Add just enough cream to get the mixture to hold together. If the dough is very sticky, add a little extra flour.

On a floured surface, pat dough into a rectangle about 1/2 inch (1 cm) thick. Slice into 12 biscuits - either into squares or with a biscuit cutter.

Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 15 minutes or until lightly browned.

Serve warm. Excellent for savory dishes like creamed chicken or sweet treats like strawberry shortcake.
